A CELEBRATION OF LIFE
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of American Tennis Association Life Member, Ollen Dupree, born March 8, 1942. Ollen was not only a champion on the tennis court but also a beloved member of the ATA family and a lifelong ambassador of the game. He passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025.
Ollen’s contributions to tennis were extraordinary. He served as an officer and Board Member of the American Tennis Association for multiple terms while excelling as a competitor on the tennis courts, capturing over 50 ATA National titles, including many ATA Nationals Doubles Championships.
Ollen devoted himself to service. For many years, he served as Vice President and Tournament Director of the MALL Tennis Club in Washington, D.C., one of the original ATA member clubs dating back to 1916. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said “Not everybody can be famous, but everybody can be great because greatness is determined by service”. Ollen’s dedicated volunteer service to the ATA without question exemplifies Dr. King’s message.
Ollen Dupree will be remembered as a champion, leader, and friend to so many in our tennis community. His passion for the game and his dedication to uplifting others will continue to inspire generations to come.
At this time, details regarding his home-going services have not been finalized. We will share information as soon as it becomes available. Please keep Ollen’s family, friends, and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this challenging time.
