WOLFE PARK TENNIS ASSOCIATION: Celebrates February as Black Tennis History Month
The Wolfe Park Tennis Association (WPTA) in celebration of Black History Month recognizes the rich history and impact of African Americans and their organizations on tennis in our country. In honor of those who came before us, WPTA is holding a Black Tennis History Competition for juniors who are presently enrolled in our 2017-2018 indoor clinic at the Scarborough East Tennis Club:
Juniors will be given a Multiple-Choice quiz covering the history of African American players, organizations and important moments in Black Tennis History. Ten years old and younger will compete on-court for trophies in a fun history-based competition.
The two top juniors with the highest test scores will be able to pick a pair of K-swiss tennis shoes of their choice from Scarborough’s Pro shop.
Between now and 2/24 juniors with parent’s help can study the history of African Americans in Tennis by visiting the following web sites:
