MID-TAC 2024 LOCAL JUNIOR TENNIS DAY
7 MID-TAC Member Clubs hosted “MID-TAC Local Junior Tennis Day” events simultaneously on Saturday, June 15, 2024 to once again engage our juniors in a meaningful event to celebrate JUNETEENTH! Juneteenth became the 12th Federal Holiday on June 17, 2021 when President Joe Biden signed it into law. Our Member Clubs celebrated with tennis fun, competition, raffles, refreshments and special tributes to the history of Freedom Day. We have shared below several pictures of juniors attending some of the MID-TAC Local Junior Tennis Day events.
2024 was Chicago Prairie Tennis Club’s first time hosting a LJTD and they did an outstanding job! Motor City Tennis Club has expanded to also conduct an entire junior tournament during their Juneteenth Celebration. Wolfe Park Tennis Association goes without saying that their annual numbers are growing exponentially. Just a testament to the excellent work they are accomplishing in their community.
Each Club had the opportunity to introduce the Pattern of Progression (POP) system named 1 – 2 – 2 – l, as taught in the book “One Shot Tennis” written by Coach and Author William Crutchfield. Juniors and coaches found it to be a great exercise in mental acuity while hitting the ball automatically!

It is MID-TAC’s desire to support our Member Clubs and the growth and development of their local junior tennis programs. Every Member Club with a Junior Development Program will be classified as either a Tier 1 (year round programming, including indoor winter stratification), Tier 2 (year round programming, with limited indoor winter stratification) or Tier 3 (only offer summer programming with referral of
juniors to qualified winter programs). For more details on each Club, visit the “Member Clubs and Tennis Link” Section on this website.
